Officially, NASA’s Curiosity Rover has made incredible discoveries on the surface of Mars which prove that billions of years ago, Mars was a planet nearly identical to Earth and that life may have flourished there once. But, what if that’s not the only thing NASA’s rover found out? According to UFO hunters, the rover has found BONES on the surface of Mars. NASA strongly disagrees.
NASA’s Curiosity rover has captured countless images from the surface of the red planet ever since the $2.5 BILLION-robot landed on Aeolis Palus in Gale Crater on Mars on August 6, 2012, meaning that the rover has spent a staggering 1786 days on the surface of our neighboring planet.
During that time, Curiosity has come across incredible things on Mars, forever changing what we thought about the red planet.
Thanks to Curiosity, scientists at NASA discovered that ancient Mars most likely had the right chemistry to support living microbes. The Alien Rover is believed to have discovered the key ingredients for life as we know it by finding traces of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, and sulfur.
“We have found a habitable environment that is so benign and supportive of life that probably — if this water was around and you had been on the planet, you would have been able to drink it,” Curiosity chief scientist John Grotzinger, of Caltech in Pasadena, said at the time.
In addition to discoveries life as we know it may have existed in the distant past on Mars, the Curiosity Rover has also found rocks that seem to show evidence of being exposed to ancient water flows. In fact, just seven weeks after the Curiosity rover touched down on Mars, mission scientists announced that the rover had found an ancient streambed where water once flowed roughly knee-deep for thousands of years at a time.
Furthermore, while exploring the Gale Crater on Mars, Curiosity discovered mudstone which indicates that at some point, in its history, a large standing lake existed.
“The possibility of life in the interior of Mars has always been very high. There’s certainly water somewhere in the crust of Mars … It’s very likely, I think, that there is life somewhere in the crust of Mars.”– Alfred McEwen, Principal Investigator, HiRISE, University of Arizona (30:25)
Among other things, the Curiosity rover also found out that Mars used to have a lot more oxygen than scientists believed initially. The rovers ChecCam instrument picked up high levels of manganese oxide in rocks that lined the Kimberly region of Gale Crater.
But one of the most important discoveries that Curiosity made on Mars was when it picked up traces of Methane.
A scientific instrument on board NASA’s Curiosity rover has found one of the most important indicators that Mars might have life on it. On Earth, 90% of all methane in the atmosphere is produced by living organisms. Curiosity captured traces of methane on the Red Planet and scientists believe this could point to the presence of life on the red planet. Curiosity registered surges of methane gas levels using the SAM instrument. These show that the base values are lower than thought, just 0.7 parts per billion in volume (ppmv), but data has also shown that the values increased significantly six times, on some occasions even exceeding seven ppmv, 10 times higher. This indicates that there is an additional source of methane of unknown origin.
All of the above explains why it is very VERY likely that Mars had life millions of years ago. Very likely, and not 100% definitive.
But if the red planet DID have life—life as we know it, and perhaps even intelligent life—wouldn’t our rovers and satellites spot evidence of that life?
Well, according to many Ufologists and researchers, our scientific robotic explorers have already found evidence of life on Mars, but that’s only considered as a conspiracy theory. And for good reason.
Curiosity has snapped countless images on Mars, and many of them show things shouldn’t be on Mars. From stones arranged in a nearly perfect circle to BONES on Mars, NASA’s Curiosity Rover has seen it all, apparently.
One of the images which make you say “What if it’s true” is the one posted below, which according to UFO hunters is clear evidence of bones on the surface of the red planet.
While many findings that have been treated as alleged evidence for life on Mars are nothing more than Pareidolia kicking in, there are some objects seen in the countless Martian images that make you think twice about what’s possible and what’s not.
NASA thinks that the alleged bone on Mars is nothing more than an oddly shaped rock. In the photo description, NASA officials wrote that while “this Mars rock may look like a femur thigh bone,” it is not the fossilized remains of a mysterious Martian. “Mission science team members think its shape is likely sculpted by erosion, either wind or water.”
“If life ever existed on Mars, scientists expect that it would be small simple life forms called microbes,” NASA officials wrote in the photo description. “Mars likely never had enough oxygen in its atmosphere and elsewhere to support more complex organisms. Thus, large fossils are not likely.”
