Professor Hawking warns: Earth could become uninhabitable for human civilization

Professor Stephen Hawking has made another warning suggesting that Earth could become a planet largely uninhabitable for human civilizations and that our planet is headed towards disaster.

While other experts say that Hawking’s suggestions are implausible, the British physicist says that our planet could become a hothouse planet like Venus, with acid boiling oceans and toxic rains if human’s don’t deal with climate change.

“We are close to the tipping point, where global warming becomes irreversible. Trump’s action could push the Earth over the brink, to become like Venus, with a temperature of 250 degrees [Celsius], and raining sulfuric acid,” he told BBC News, referring to the president’s decision to pull the US out of the Paris climate deal.

However, climate experts don’t agree and say Professor Hawking is postulating a totally implausible and exaggerated claim.

For starters, Earth is located much farther away from the Sun than Venus, and its chemical makeup will never contain such a thick carbon dioxide atmosphere, which would allow the planet to reach scorching 250°C temperatures say, experts.

Michael Mann, a climate scientist at the Pennsylvania State University, told Live Science in an email:

“Hawking is taking some rhetorical license here. Earth is further away from the sun than Venus and likely cannot experience a runaway greenhouse effect in the same sense as Venus — i.e. a literal boiling away of the oceans. However, Hawking’s larger point—that we could render the planet largely uninhabitable for human civilization if we do not act to avert dangerous climate change—is certainly valid.”

Curiously, Stephen Hawking has made numerous comments about our planet, the future of Earth, and how the human civilization is in danger.

Recently, during a speech at the Starmus science festival held in Trondheim, Norway, the world’s smartest man noted that it was very important that humans establish a colony on the moon and Mars—taking with us an ‘intergalactic Noah’s Ark, filled with plants, animals, fungi, and insects, which will allow us to create and populate a new world.

In the past. Professor Hawking said that “the threats are too big and too numerous and humans need to leave earth. The Earth is becoming too small for us, our physical resources are being drained at an alarming rate.”

Mr. Hawking previously also commented that humans may lack the skills as a species to stay alive.

“I don’t think we will survive another 1,000 years without escaping our fragile planet,” he had said, adding: “I therefore want to encourage public interest in space, and I have been getting my training in early.”

According to the World’s smartest man, our planet is headed towards disaster.

“Although the chance of a disaster to planet Earth in a given year may be quite low, it adds up over time, and becomes a near certainty in the next thousand or ten thousand years,” he said.

“However, we will not establish self-sustaining colonies in space for at least the next hundred years, so we have to be very careful in this period.”

yes we are polluting the earth. We have to consider the other aliens now,who live here . They are bound to be pissed at us .

The more Hawking twiddles his computer voice, the less I respect him. He is not coming up with any new radical theories or ideas about physics or space….all I ever hear about him these days are his obvious left-leaning anecdotes about Earth and climate change.
This whole Paris accord is a money pit for the “Liberatti” (my word) who want nothing but to control every aspect of our existence…and Hawking is feeding into that, which doesn’t surprise me seeing as how he comes from a liberal upbringing and attending a notoriously liberal institution of higher learning.
Thanks for the memories and all, Stephen….but time for you to roll off into the sunset….your climate shtick has officially gotten droll and passe’.
